Photosynthesis

Plants prepare their own food, consume, and store the extra food being prepared and use them later. Preparation of food in plants is called photosynthesis. It requires an essential pigment, chlorophyll, which traps solar energy and converts the raw materials; carbon dioxide and water into carbohydrates. The excess carbohydrates are converted as soon as they are prepared to starch and stored in storage organs. At night, photosynthesis does not occur as there is no sunlight. In such situations, the stored food is used by the plants to carry on their life activities. So plants also eat!
